Pros & Cons Of Hard Cases
For long distances, it is always recommended to carry your rifle in a hard case. This is especially useful when carrying it in a vehicle, or on an airplane. These cases are ergonomic and offer a comfortable single hand carrying option.
With this type of case, the gun is reliably protected from the effects of an aggressive environment, as well as temperature and humidity fluctuations.
On the interior, soft reinforcing material (normally foam rubber, covered with velour) securely fixes the butt and barrel in the case compartments, protecting the gun from mechanical damage.
The rapid development of microelectronics and digital technologies has led to the fact that high-precision optics have become an integral part of hunting carbines and rifles. Modern optics provide precision aiming at the target, which allows you to hit the target with the first shot from any distance. The design of modern hard cases allows for this and will keep your scopes in pristine condition.
Hard cases are heavy and cumbersome to use while hunting, but as mentioned, are ideal for transportation. Therefore, if your main use is hunting, then this might not be the best type of case for you.
Pros & Cons Of Soft Cases
In terms of hunting, the soft case ensures the safety and combat effectiveness of the gun. And hunters use lightweight, soft bags made of durable, water-repellent fabric. They are practical, durable, and are fit to be used alongside backpacks or hunting bags.
One advantage of this case is that various variations of colors are offered. Soft covers also have additional sections and pockets designed to carry the necessary rifle accessories. Several soft cases are even able to carry more than one rifle at once.
Modern soft covers are made of genuine leather, nylon, or Cordura (thick and durable nylon with a special thread structure and waterproofing impregnation).
However, the downside to these cases is that they quickly get wet. While they are water-resistant, they are mostly not able to keep dry in the rain. This makes a soft case impractical to use in such weather.
So What’s The Best AR Cases?
A quality gun case is one of the best choices for keeping your firearm safe. It is recommended to have at least two covers: hard – for transportation and soft with good moisture protection – for hunting and short-range carrying, such as to your local gunsmith.
With so many cases covered, you first need to decide on which type of case you are looking for at the moment?
Our favorite hard case is the…
It rose above the competition because of the pre-cut AR-15 padding and also pre-cuts for additional accessories. Some are happy to get knives out and chop foam to pieces to get it to fit around your rifle. But unless you have a lot of experience doing this, it normally ends up looking like a complete mess.
No such issues with this case, which will leave your weapon looking like the case was made for it, which it was!
It has a very rugged design and is fully water and dustproof. Also featuring an Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve, you will have no issues with pressure affecting your firearm or accessories while flying.
And as a bonus, there is a free knife included, which always comes in hand for something?
While if you’re looking for a soft case, then we would recommend the…
It allows you to comfortably and snuggly carry one rifle or two and features lots of extra pouches and MOLLE webbing which can be used for carrying any extra accessories. It also comes in seven different colors, so you can not only have a comfortable, durable soft case, but also one that perfectly matches your style.
It’s only negative is that the handle straps are not very well sewn in, and they could fall apart over time. But to be honest, this is just regular wear and tear, and if you are using it in rugged conditions, this really shouldn’t be that much of a concern.
We hope that you’ve enjoyed our reviews of the best AR Cases currently available and find whichever one you buy a great companion on your next trip.
